Are there any special laws that apply to bicyclists in Florida?
There are some considerations that are additional for someone who is involved in an accident when they’re operating or using a bicycle. Basically the same laws of negligence apply that would apply to a motor vehicle, other than the fact that there are certain advantages that a bicyclist has that a motorist doesn’t, simply because of the lack of mobility that a bicyclist has as compared with a car. Also, if there’s litigation involved with a bicyclist, that person has less to prove in order to establish liability or to recover from the operator of a motor vehicle who causes them to be injured.
