I had a fire. What should I do first?
Usually when fires are involved, insurance is also involved. So the first thing you need to do is be aware of any terms under any insurance policy that could require you to provide your insurer with notice of the fire, or provide a recorded statement to ensure about what occurred at the fire. These two things could either help or hurt you in collecting from your insurance company. Therefore, prior to doing so, I would immediately contact an attorney and provide them with a copy of your policy so they may review it for you, telling you exactly what your rights are.
