The insurance company adjuster wants to take a recorded statement for my fire insurance claim. What should I do?
It depends on whose insurance company this is. If it’s your insurance company in a first-party capacity, meaning it’s the insurer for your house or building that burned, then you’re obligated to comply with their reasonable investigation, which arguably would entail a recorded statement. If it’s somebody else’s insurance company, for whatever reason, liability, your answer is no, I do not want to give a recorded statement.
